When I check the device manager, under Other Devices, Multimedia Audio Controller had a big yellow question mark in front of it.

How can i solve this problem? there were some other topics related to this problem and suggested to update driver? how do i know which driver to update? fyi, i don't have the motherboard cd installer. where can i download such driver? My motherboard is an ASUS P4PE.

Yes, that means that you need to install the drivers. And you can go into device manager and right click each device and select update drivers, and Windows will check if your drivers are up to date. Try updating the sound drivers that way, if that doesn't work than look on ASUS site for the specific drivers for your board.
