No sound from my cd/dvd drive

I can hear sound when I play music from my hard drive, but when I put in a disc, it plays and there is no sound. I checked the connections twice, and even switched audio cables, the one that goes from the m/b to the dvd drive. I also double checked the drivers, all seem to be there and working, not sure what else to do.

Open the volume icon in the task bar, open volume control, and check the volume setting for the CD drive. It may have been lowered. Sometimes games are known to do this.
