Im not sure this is the right place to post this so move it if necessary but I was looking at my friends computer and a popup at the corner of the screen and alot of things don't work because it says it's not a genuine version of windows and may be counterfeit or soemthing like that?

Does that mean he has a fake version of windows running? He got the pc at future shop so I don't think theyd give him a fake copy
 
Normally this means it's a cracked vesion or something. If he recently got the computer, I'd take it back to the store and complain. Either that or call microsoft and give them your key and explain the problem...
 
Hes had his pc for a few years now...

Where would he have gotten the cracked version? It's not anyone in his house that for sure and I doubt it woud be the store?
