Found this forum tonight goofing off, trying not to think about work... front page of Google, 1st spot too, great work!

I also noticed theres not forum for discussion for small business owners, or those who are making a living at computer/tech/IT support.

Anyone else run their own computer support company? Be an interesting forum.. food for thought guys!

Why? www.elance.com already has that market for the most part. Most people on this forum are hobbyists, not professional IT workers. There is not really a lot of topics that are about system deployments, client and server management, services, etc.

Plus CF cannot be held responsible for morons screwing up professional work, seems like a lot of legal liability to me.

CF seems like it is a pretty comprehensive forum, thought a discussion forum for self-employed technicians would be a good thing.

Liability? No.. that's what disclaimers are for :good:

I don't see any real liability for CF proving a discussion forum among professionals.... make it private, and have a simple disclaimer...

After all, if you think about it... there are dozens (or more) of self-employed computer techs in every city...

I will check out Elance, but this is the Internet... "no-one" has domination over any market, as every market is always growing & changing.

Just my thoughts :-)

Didn't want to make another post - Checked out Elance.. not quiet what I was talking about.... it's not a "discussion forum" where people with similar ideas, goals and advice can socialize... the exact opposite, in fact.

elance has the ability to network you to professionals, ie paid jobs. All through contracting and it is very broad. I have got Unix sys admin gigs off there before to set up back ups automated on a Unix server. Charged them $75 an hour.

There is also a feedback system on elance, which this site lacks. I mean I would almost rather go to Craig's list than here because at least I can search local and talk to someone if they royally screw up my system. Also, what about certification? While, they can be meaningless, almost every single company out there requires work to be done by a tech with some sort of certification - period.

On built computers under warranty you are under contract on who works on the machine under warranty.

I just highly doubt anyone would want to come here and all it would take is one bad experience to ruin it, since there is no liability (ie accountability) system in place for rating a person.

Plus, if you search the threads 90% of them are about building a PC and gaming. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but that doesn't really attract business. If it were software or malware/spwyare/virus removal, John a regular here has countless how to threads on to remove that sort of thing.
