i actually went to pick up a firewire for my camera, and i dont think i have the right plug in for it on my tower. i looked and didnt see it... but the guy at the store said i could get this usb cord that was faster than firewire, but he said nothing about quality and i know everyone has told me that usb reduces quality.

is it worth my trouble to try and put a firewire port thing in? my moms not to psyched about it, im actually sorta leaning toward the usb cable right now...
all i know about it is that its some new fast one or some shit. and i still dont have the usb driver i need anyways though..

Actually, Firewire and USB capture video in totally different ways, and Firewire is actually faster than USB 2.0(about 5-20% faster) For video, you shouldn't notice a difference with most computers, but USB is more prone to drop frames.

ok, i can pick up a the 2.0 usb (the faster kind im pretty sure) for cheap at walmart so i may just grab that. now i just have to figure out the driver..

id like to put in a firewire port but but my mom doesnt think i need a firewire that bad... :(

Trust me...if you can use anything with firewire, it's much better. Less strain on the processor and it is usally a bit faster...you might not notice a difference, but any time I do video work, I either use firewire or my PCI card...

Hell, any idea what my DVD Recorder has? Firewire or USB 2.0 for capturing from my camcorder... Most have both connections, USB 2.0 is "SUPPOSE" to be faster... Uh huh :P It's got firewire/DV

Use only Brand name Firewire card or you'll be having problems.. USB is not an option for Firewire. Both have their own purpose and limitations
