No Audio Through Headphones

I had this problem recently then the other day, I had turned on my laptop and the sound worked through headphones no problem, now it's not working again. The sound comes out through the laptops speakers but won't come out through the headphones. I had checked the settings and restarted the laptop a couple times ad it still won't work now. I've tried using my headphones on my friends MP player and they work good but not using the laptop. This laptop is only a few months old.
 
Oh your laptop did you set it to have sound out through there? Some models ask for you to allow it to push the sound through the output. What model and drivers are you using?

I'm have an Acer 3680 and I didn't change anything, it just desen't work. my drivers are Realtek HD Audio I think.
 
I have seen Realtek HD have a tray icon that you can click on and tell it to enable the sound output through headphones do you have anything in your tray down in the bottom right corner?

There used to be an icon but for some reason it's not there anymore, I think it may have got deleted or something. I still have sound and just won't work through headphones, yesterday it worked until last night when I went to use my laptop, there was no sound through headphones. The sound works good through my friends MP3 players
 
Sounds like going to acer's site and downloading and reinstalling the audio drivers and software for your machine is a good idea just to start there..

I had just re-installed Realtek HD Audio and the icon is back in system tray but still no audio through headphones. THe sound card is good and all the audio drives are anabled and running properly (I just checked them all) but it's just the headphones where I can't get audio but the headphones work on my friends MP3 player. I've searched for this problem and thousands of others have the same problem but no one knows the answer to it. They have the exact same problem. It's really weird and fustrating.
 
For some reason, I've just noticed that the SPDIF is not lit up like the rest in Volumn Control (Master Volumn). Will that have something to do with no audio coming through headphones? How do I get the SPDIF to light up, that may be the problem or part of it.
