My sound isn't working it says "No Audio Device" I tried everything, and it still doesn't work. I installed and uninstalled realtek about 3 times and nothing. I followed a couple videos on youtube but none of them worked. I also tried going to device manager and putting it on automatic and still nothing. Please can someone HELLP???

Does device manager say that the sound driver is installed? What operating system are you running? What model of computer is this? Do you have the speakers plugged into the green port on the back of the computer or sound card?

In device manager it says under "sounds, video and game controllers"
Audio Codecs
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC (This one has a yellow exclamation mark beside it)
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
Video Codecs

I am running on an XP, It is a Dell laptop computer it has built in speakers because i never have to plug in speakers. It used to work before but when i recently installed Windows XP Professional It said this in my Volume menu "No Audio Device"

What specific model dell do you have? Also do you have an entry under system devices labeled as Microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition audio? If not, that needs to be installed first before the sound driver can actually install.

IDK what model? i run on an XP. the computer has built in speakers it used to work before, but i got a virus and has to install XP from the CD. now my sound isnt working. what sound driver should i install?

Thats why I need to know what model of inspiron so I know what driver it needs. Do you have the service tag number?
