Newegg beginning to go downhill

I've had some quirks with a few of my recent orders from Newegg. Usually nothing too serious, but this recent order has been a horrific experience. First off, I had loads of credit card issues. None was directly a result of Newegg, but I can't say I was exactly thrilled with the support I received from them. Then a bit later once everything went through, I return to check my order status and realize I was being charged right at $8.00 for shipping. Realize I went through any only selected things with "free shipping" or purchased stuff elsewhere where I would get free shipping... I contact support and I'm told I was charged shipping for my GPU and this.... You know, it wouldn't be so bad if the item I was being charged for was something I ACTUALLY ORDERED! But no, this was something that came free with another item and couldn't even be removed.

Well, I guess all in all it's not terrible. In the end the rep gave me a $10 credit for my next purchase. While I would have preferred it go back on the card at least they did take care of it in a reasonable manner. Still, crap like this shouldn't even happen...

(Sorry, rough past couple days...I needed to rant :P)

lol, thats about what happened to me on my last order, i ordered an e5200, hdd, ram, and i think an esata cable, i think shipping was like 10 bucks, go figure though, everything but the cable had free shipping, cable came out of a different warehouse second day air

Last time I ordered newegg they shipped from New Jersey to Boston in a day, with 3 Day shipping, so that was pretty impressive. Hopefully Newegg isn't going downhill, they are still the best place for large computer components!

It's retail dude, it has it's ups and downs and for the most part using newegg over the past 5 years or so I haven't had much issues. Nothing like the horrors I had with pricewatch.com

Well pricewatch isn't really a place you buy items from... They just post other stores. But that is where I used to do my shopping, and I've since stopped after some of my own horror stories :P

But I do agree, Newegg is still the best place to buy stuff. Tiger direct isn't too bad, but sales tax kills the deal for me... Just some of the stuff going on over at newegg bugs me...

I used to work for a retail computer company that did both consumer and business sales, but I worked in the back in the tech shop. I was one of those warranty repair, system builders guys back in the day.

My company had pretty liberal policies that typically would benefit the consumer, but I can't tell you how many times I had to deal with bull crap. On both sides form corporate policies to angry douche bag customers. I am so glad I am out of retail and I am never ever going back. It was a great experience for me though and I learned a lot.

Newegg right now is handing out credit like it is going out of style. They just upgraded my preferred account limit to like $8,000 now. I am not going to buy anything but this whole bad economy thing may be hitting them, or hell it may be boosting their sales. Maybe people are becoming smarter consumers and shopping online to get better prices these days? I have no idea. I just know they have upgraded my preferred account for free in hopes that I spend money. I currently owe like $300 on it, and once I get that paid off (next pay check will do it) I am thinking about getting a second GTX260 and finally do SLI.
