Newbie has questions about installing a sound card

I recently built a new computer and compared the sound quality to my old Dell. The Dell sounded a little better, so I was planning to pull the Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit sound card and put it into my new rig. The card has a cable that runs to the front I/O panel on the Dell, but I don't see a plug for it on my new Gigabyte motherboard. Also, my new LG BD-ROM drive doesn't have an audio-out port that I can see. Can I use this sound card on my new rig? The cable has me confused.

i do not believe you really need that cable.just put your sound card in, install the drivers, and your be good to go.
