Hello:
I am not all that computer literate so I am hoping that I can get some help here. I have a Dell Inspirion 8200 laptop and older Gateway desktop (about 6 years old) that is going to be replaced soon. I am just about to purchase a Palm TX which is WiFi enabled. I I would like to be able to surf the internet from different parts of my house using the laptop and Palm handheld. Could someone please explain the equipment that I need and the approx cost that this will take to accomplish?

Also, when purchasing the next desktop computer to replace the old Gateway is there anything that I should make sure that I include in the package so that I can still surf the web via WiFi on my laptop and handheld? Thanks a lot!!!

You will need an internet subsription that you pay for month to month... Dsl or Cable, whatever is available in your area. You will then need a wireless router with a couple ports for direct cable connections. The modem you will need is usually provided by the ISP whom you buy your service from. The router which I recommend is the Linksys WRT54G (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124010) ($54.99). It transmits BOTH B and G signals.

This means you will need either a B or G Wireless network adaptor on the PC you purchase in the future. If it doesnt have one they are about $60.
