New Speakers

I enjoy listening to music with allot of bass and I really wanted new speakers to go with the new computer I'm making so will these be good? Or is there better ones for a bit cheaper or more?

Also what is 5.1, 2.1 I see those next to all the speakers

The Z506 are alright for music. Certainly not terrible, but if music is the primary focus I would look elsewhere.

2.1/5.1/7.1 are all different levels of speaker configurations. The first number is how many speakers it has and the added .1 is an indicator that there is a sub woofer in the system.

Logitech for gaming. The speakers that salvage-this listed, would be good for music.

Is there any speakers that are good for both gaming and music? I want a sub that has good bass.

The z506s are fine for both. They are just not as good for music as they are for gaming. I listen to music constantly on my x-530s with a dedicated sound card and they sound great.

Asus Xonar D1. DX is the same just on the PCI x1 interface rather than PCI.

What's your budget? If you're near Melbourne then I suggest you check out pccasegear. They've got some really nice speakers and cheap shipping. I use that site for nearly everything.

Well I'm spending $1,600 on my computer so I don't want to spend too much.

I would stick with the Z506s for now. Good for games and will still sound good with music. Use onboard sound for now and upgrade later if you find a need to.

I would turn your attention away form tradional pc makers for your speakers. If you look at any PRO Audio store you will find many "near field" monitors that home studio's and pro studio's use. For a few that dont break the bank you can look at the AKAI RPM3'S they about 100 bucks connect usb, M AUDIO AV40'S for about 150 bucks, and for this low price point the best reccomondation are the ALESIS M1 ACTIVE 520'S nice biamped box 50 watts to driver 25 watts to tweeter usb connection and good quality xlr cable to connect the speakers 200 dollars gets you decent enough pc sound.

I got this set of cheap 5.1 computer speakers after the 2.1 logitech S-220 set I had gave out. I was really surprised by how good they sound.

M Audio AV40 and polk audio PSW10 comb is great. I have it currently paired up with Xonar D1 sound card and it's a killer combo for the price.
