New speakers

I have klipsch 4.0 v2 (400 watts rms). What kind of computer speakers would be a fairly major upgrade frome these?:

FREQUENCY RESPONSE 29Hz - 20kHz
MAX ACOUSTIC OUTPUT 110dB SPL
NOMINAL IMPEDANCE 4 ohms
MAXIMUM ACOUSTIC OUTPUT 110dB SPL
HIGH FREQUENCY HORN 90(o) x 40(o) MicroTractrix(r) Horn
SUBWOOFER Two 6.5
AMPLIFIER BASH Digital linear hybrid amplifier; discrete MOSFET output power section
ENCLOSURE MATERIAL Satellites: ABS Subwoofer: Medium density fiberboard construction (MDF)
ENCLOSURE TYPE Satellites—sealed, Subwoofer—bass reflex
INPUTS Four-channel soundcard; twin miniplugs
DIMENSIONS Satellite: 8.5
WEIGHT Satellite: 2.1 lbs. (0.95kg) Subwoofer: 17.5 lbs. (7.95kg)
ACCESSORIES RB-1 Stand, WB-1 Bracket
FINISHES Black
VOLTAGE 110/120 VAC
EXPORT VOLTAGE 230 VAC

They are pretty loud and sound quite nice, but I blew one of the subs making a song, I still have all the sattelites and COULD replace the sub for like $20 from klipsch and hell this thing has been overdriven to hell and back and just crapped out recently (9 years later). Is one 10 inch = 2 6.5s or one 10 inch = to 2 8s? The bass from these made me somewhat deaf in my right ear over the years lol. They have been VERY reliable, is there anything louder (in the bass area) out there? Or should I buy a 5.1 ultra (2 8s) off of ebay?

How much money are you willing to spend? Do you need surround sound or are you okay for two-channel for music?

Is one 10 inch = 2 6.5s or one 10 inch = to 2 8s?

Assuming there is a magical world where the drivers have identical properties and scale linearly, one 10" has 100sq inches of surface radiating area. That's equivalent to dual 7" drivers.

lol ok, mine wouldn't sound too bad as a car stereo (2 tens would beat it np but 1 10 would be similar), my neighbors would want to beat the crap out of me if I turned them up half way (apartment). Anything better then what I have out there :p
My speakers are 400 watts (total) rms (50 per sattelite) the subs are 200 I think.

Since you still haven't listed a budget, I should assume then you aren't actually looking for new computer speakers, but you are just nonchalantly asking what would be an upgrade?

Sorry I was a little drunk when I posted.
I meant I would like to either upgrade this system (the subs) and (possibly) add a center speaker. I was thinking about buying a used promedia 5.1 ultra (klipsch) from ebay that was kind of mangled and trying to replace the broken parts with mine (I would need the mp to be working). Or in the event that something has come around that sounds better then these (sound quality not just bass) then I would perhaps buy those. I am primarily making music and gaming with them. My left sub has a hole in it and I think the amp is starting to go, so would I be better off purchasing a new system, or getting the parts to fix this one? All my sattelites are in good condition. My budget would be around $400-$600.

If you have $600 to put away for a setup just sell your system as parts and pick up a set of Yamana YHT-791BL 7.1s or Onkyo HT-S6200s.

If you mainly want to focus on music I would consider buying just 2 speakers + subwoofer. For $600 you can get a serious hi-fi setup.

My rec at this price range:

Speakers: Tweakcity Audio WAF-1
Amp: Gizmo 1
Subwoofer: Hsu STF-1

Even without a sub the WAF-1s will hit deeper than your current system, the woofer is a far superior quality.

My focus on music is about 50/50, I will become more serious as soon as I get some more hardware. I don't have the rear speakers hooked up anyway, so that is an interesting setup. Thanks much.

Here are the measurements for the WAF-1 and Hsu STF-1. WAF-1 stays within roughly a +/-2 db window out to 20KHz, and the STF-1's -3db point is around 27hz. Both exceptional performers that perform as well as retail products twice their price (or more).
