new pc and network problems

I just got a new pc for christmas. We started a bit early for lots of reasons.:D
Anyway, my computer is a HP pavillion a1100y and when I connect to my home network, It locks up compleatly.
And guess what, when i connect to my friends network, everything goes just fine. fell free to ask for any info to solve the problem.
 
like the computer freezes up or something? Try disabling windows firewall or changing the settings in there. Also check to see if your router might be keeping you off for any number of reasons, like wrong IP/subnet/DNS or something and make sure your subnet has enough spots for the new computer. Other firewall programs may block it out as a danger as well so look into that too if you're running a firewall. But post stuff about your network and software, like sp2 or not, the particular HP model number doesn't do anyone any good.

If you bothered googling it you would know if it had sp2, which it does.


I fixed it.

I had installed the card before the drivers, so i re-did that.
i also updated the drivers
 
well when you're the one with the problem, you can tell us what it has and not make us google it, read the Questions 101 sticky
