is it easy to fit a new lens(optical)on a digital camera if the camera is basically functioning ok---thanks..(could you offer some advice on how to do it)...

SLRs you can put a different lens on, but normal digital cameras are quite an extensive and expensive ordeal. If it's not an SLR, best to just get a new camera.

It sounds like he might be referring to you're average every day digital camera... which would not have a removable lens. My guess is that it is scratched or cracked? If so, the only thing that I can think of is buying a broken camera the same as yours and swap the lenses out.

its not just as easy as poping the lens out and replacing it...normal cameras arent built for that purpose of interchanging lens...nor are they easy for a normal person to switch without breaking them...if its not an SLR then take it to a repair shop that has a good rep and let them fix it

Again, here's mine with it's new adapter. I don't have a lens for it, but I do have a few filters... However a new lens will apparently work on here too.

its a minolta e500 with zoom(not a quick attatchable lense-the camera would have to be opened)--the camera works ok exept for the zoom (it states lens error)---is it possible to replace the zoom lens-either from a similar camera or a new part--would it be possible to do it yourself/or would it take expert knowlegde--thanks...

I'm sure you could replace it with enough work, but they are not "user serviceable" I haven't researched the camera, but typically doing this is much harder than its worth...

However, screens are very easy to replace(typically...) Have you thought about looking for one on ebay with a broken screen and just replacing it with yours? Just an idea... My dad likes to do that a lot to get cheap cameras :P
