I get no sound what so ever, i have tried the windows troubleshooting guild but no help. The sound card is RealTec AC97 built into the MoBo. I install the driver which came with the MoBo CD and installed drivers form online but no hope. My system specs are in the sign, thanks for any help.

How's it showing in device manager? Are you running the setup? Sometimes you just need to force the drive on there. Go though device manager, found the sound card, and direct it to the drivers.

Oh yeah, did you do anything with the front audio pannel? Be sure it's setup correctly. If you don't have the right plug connected to the motherboard, or you removed the jumpers for the front pannel, it won't work.

In the device manager it shows normal, no exmation mark or red x. i have the it plug into the back of the computer since i didn't hook up the ones on the front and yes it is plug in right.

Is the onboard disabled in the bios itself??? With a new build a common mistake is the old habit of putting in a pci model sound card and never using the onboard. That will often be disabled at the default settings depending on make and model board.

That unfortunately points at a board fault namely the audio chip. I would advise contacting the vendor for a replacement if you don't simply return it for a refund under their return policy. Did you just buy the board or has it been sitting around for a period of time(over 30 days usually)?

Send it right back under the dealer's warranty. A friend had a problem when two Asus boards(second was replacement) woudn't do anything. Nothing was even seen at powerup. The third board was sent out(different model) to replace the first two and has been running strong in the new build there.

it is not the MoBo, it pluged in a soundblaster live! sound card installed all the drivers ect and still no sound.

You stated that you got no sound when trying the onboard sound. Now a Creative card also fails to work. That points at the board itself. One idea would be to flash the bios with an update in case that is why sound hasn't been seen with either onboard or pci card. The onboard audio chip is separate from the pci bus. The SB card could simply be defective explaining why that didn't get results.

i took the SB card right out of my brothers computer so i know that it isn't defective. I was wondering if windows xp could have not been installed right or something cuasing the sound not to work?

Have you taken a look in the accessories-entertainment at the volume control Windows has there for sound? If that was lowered all the way down or muted that would block sound to some degree. But since you pointed out that the SB from the other case is known to be good you mat have forgotten to disable the onboard most likely which would be a more likely cause. Check the bios to see if that's where you problem is.

I finally fixed it, after pluging in the front connection into the MoBo, now the back of the MoBo connection works. I don't kno why but i dont really care since it works now :) thanks for all the help guys
