I've been using a Rebel XSI and 40D for the better part of a year and I've been waiting for a suitable upgrade.

With the Sept 1st announcement of the EOS 7D launch, I think I may have found my new camera!

What do people think of the 7D? ..on paper it sounds badass..as its not out till end of the month.

I'm just not wanting to go full frame and jump to 3000+ dollars

18mp
8fps
100-6400ISO (expandable to 12800)
3.0" Clearview LCD
Dual DIGIC4 processing
built-in wireless flash controller
and a ton more specs I cant even think of.

Cant wait to see how this beast does, Wouldn't mind investing in one myself. I too have a 40D and instead of the XSi I have the XTi.

This should be an exciting and interesting release though.

Yeah, I'm pretty ampped and so are alot of people. They seemed to price it well and loaded it with features while improving on some outstanding issues/concerns from users of previous SLR's

I'm also pretty excited for the new 100mm Macro lens. It's F/2.8, L-series glass, and is the first lens to utilize the new Hybrid IS system.

Pretty exciting for serious photog's

Yes I'm very excited for that as well, I'm glad I decided to hold off on getting a macro lens.

Definitely some great releases coming from cannon in the near future.

There are lots of good reviews out there, the new AF system and HD video recording sound like excellent features.

With the launch of the 7D the 50D's price has dropped dramatically--I got my 50D body for $675.

Yes very nice find, I still see 40D's going for 600-650 on average so getting a 50D for 675 is good. What was it's condition? What was the shutter count at?

It's in great condition--shutter count is only 8415 at the moment. Officially, the end deal was $760 with the Canon 30D, Canon grip, 3 Canon batteries, and 2 chargers. That's after accounting for the fact that I was able to get the new Canon 28-135mm sold with a profit of $310 on Amazon...which I was not expecting at all!
