New build taking 2 1/2 minutes to boot

Computer runs fine. I have loaded microsoft office and IE8 so it works fine but why does it take 2 1/2 minutes to boot. I did a clean install of Windows XP service pack 2. I would think with the little bit of software that I have on it, it would boot up fast. Please help. I am a newbie so please give details. Thank you. Frank
