New build problem!

So I finally have everything I need and super stoked to get my new PC up and running. Get everything connected and double and triple check my connections, plug in my power supply, and hit the power button on the front of the case and.... nothing. No beeps, no fans seem to power up or anything.
I've gone through my motherboard manual and still can't pin point why it won't power up.

When the PSU is plugged into the case the Stand-by power light, lights up on the motherboard for about 30 seconds and then slowly dims out..

I've checked and all my stand-offs have been screwed in properly and I don't think that there is a short anywhere..

Does anyone have any idea on what may be happening?

any insight would be greatly appreciated!

thanks.

Do you have both cables plugged into the motherboard? There will be a large, 20/24 pin cable, as well as a smaller 4/8 pin cable that plugs in near the CPU.

Short of that, I would say a faulty PSU seeing as it gets power, but then the power goes out. Do you have a spare PSU that you can swap in?

Hey Aastii. Thanks for the response, yes both the 24pin and the 8 pin connections have connectors plugged into them and i've made sure they're seated properly.

I was looking at that power stand-by light more closely, and it will dim itself only once i've switched the PSU into the on position.. it'll stay lit when the power is turned off!

I don't have a spare PSU kicking around, i'm a first time builder. :)

any other thoughts and insight would be greatly appreciated.

So... I got it working.. :P .. I think what it was, was my power connector from the case wasn't contacting properly, so I pulled all of the connections out along that panel and used a screw driver to make contact on the PWR-SW and it did its POST and sent me straight to my BIOS..

I gotta say, there is nothing quite like being tired and pessimistic and then proving yourself wrong by getting things going!

This makes for a happy Wook.

I'm sure i'm going to have many more questions in the coming days though, until then, thanks for the consideration.
