new build or rebuild???

Ok so I have looked at a few different options and im stuck. I primarily use my computer for playing league of legends and general web surfing. I however would like to play some d3 and possibly a few other games. My current system is as follows.
MS Windows 8 Professional 32-bit
AMD Athlon II X2 240
Regor 45nm Technology
2.00 GB Single-Channel DDR2 @ 334MHz (5-5-5-15)
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-MA785GM-US2H (Socket M2)
Acer G185H (1366x768@60Hz)
ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series
233GB Seagate ST3250310AS ATA Device (SATA)
Psu xpower585

I had all but decided to just upgrade the graphix card to a 6670 and add a stick of memory. I was going to then do a whole new build. However i am not blessed with a ton of money.

I know I need to upgrade my psu and that is one of the first things Id look at doing if I did a rebuild. I guess my question is looking at what I currently have could I slvage enough of it to do a rebuild or should I just do a new build.

Could I say replace my psu with a 500 watt corsair, put in the 6670 and that be good enough for what I am planning on doing with my computer.

If so Id want to upgrade the cpu and motherboard in a few moths. Then the hard drive and possibly gpu again around the first of the year.

or I could new build either way i dont have the money to buy all at once and will be buying parts a few at a time

No i have not tried to unlock any cores. I was thinking of buying a 500 watt corsair psu a stick of memory and a 6670 next week.tha would cost me $120. This would allow me to play d3 and get me by for a month or so. Then I was thinking of buying an asrock a55pro3 atx fm1 motherboard, an amd a8 3850, and 8gb ddr3 ram. That would run me about 220.

would that be a pretty descent system?

Benny, its a Regor, it has 2 cores. Period.

Would not suggest a FM1 apu, the FM2's are coming out soon, and are a far better chip than the FM1's were.

OK. I may have bumped into one that doesn't have locked cores, and I remember that now. Period.
Cores or no cores, something else might unlock, like the X. Period.
I would still try it even though an upgrade is in order. Period.
As a side note your source appears contradictory. Period.

This ^

Period.

ok so another question?

If I dont upgrade the psu this week. would I be safe to put in a 6670 or 7750 that dosent require external power. I will be buying a crsair psu soon but the money isnt there right now.

I would recommend a gtx460, however they seem to be getting rare now, so the 550Ti might be your best bet in that price range, however if theres a deal on a gtx560, you might be able to snag one of those..

Would cost as much as your combo, but you could probably pair it with that psu you listed in the combo and you might be around the same price as the combo after rebates, though that requires paying up front and waiting on the rebates, not exactly a ideal situation...

and if you really wanted more oomph out of your cpu situation, you could grab a athlon ii x4 630 or 640 off ebay for like 60ish, their common there, however have to make sure its compatible with the board.

so I have to replace my psu,my gpu, and put two sticks off ddr2 memory in my computer since I assume i atleast need 4gb of memmory for these cards to run right.

Combo with corsair 500w psu and memory
with 6850 cost 292.00 with free game dirt 3
with 7770 cost 265.00 with free game dirt 3
with 550ti cost 242.00

also I play league of legends alot and the 550ti seems to be having issues with league of legends

so one more opinion If I dont buy the ram cause I dont need it to run the graphics card i can either buy the 6850 plus psu combo for 240.00 or I can settle for the 550ti combo and get an i3 and a motherboard for 400

384.22 after shipping with the i3-2120 3.3 ghz 65 watt
or339.22 after shipping with the remanufactured i3-540 3.06 ghz 73 watt

I coput it all in this case and then all I would have to replace would be the case and hard drive later with an os

Well thats a bit more enlightening than what benny said. thanks Strangle. However Id still go with the sure thing, vs unlocking, seems like a gamble for performance to me.

Ok so I have decided to go with the 6850 either gigabytes version or the asus.
I will be pairing it with a corsair 500w psu.

I will be buying windows 7 either at the same time or in the next month followed by my cpu and mobo.
