Networking troubles...

Before my computer was reformatted, my home network with ICS was working perfectly. Now the laptop I use can connect, but is given an IP like 169.254.243.14 instead of the normal 192.168.1.XX. Browsing around in my Linksys Wireless Monitor, I know I can connect, but there is no internet. In my router's config, I see that the DHCP server is set up, but still the laptop contradicts me. Anyone know what to do?

I had the same thing this morning... but i was using a Belkin router... Just Return the router to factory settings, and re install the information for the connection..

hate to say it, but doing thath made everything worse. My desktop comp was thenunable to connect to anything but the router's config. After that , I unplugged the router, directly connected the comp to the cable modem, and contacted Linksys. Before ding that, I never knew anyone could be so clueless. The only way the linksys tech support people survive, is by telling you to download their auto configuration program that doesn't work. Right about now, I'm not really sure what to do.

169? that is windows default ip when it doesnt recieve one from the dhcp...Also known as...no connection to the router/modem/hub/switch
