Hi
At work we have a Printer/Fax/Scanner machine. it is connected directly to the network and has a static ip address.
We have just finished renovation a new room and are moving the printer into this room. There is two network cards in the machine one for the Scanner and one for the Printer (both have diifferent IP addresses).
I will explain a little bit more about our network. The data points in the new room are connect to an 8 port switch and in turn that switch in connected back to our main 24 port switch.
Our problems comes that when we plug in the cables to connect it to the network we cant find the printer. We can find the scanner port and are able to ping that ip address but not the printer.
We have tried swapping cables over to see if it may have been wired incorrectly, no success there. We have connected a laptop into both the data points and it establishes itself on the network and gets an ip address.
To add to the puzzle when we connect the printer directly into the 8 port switch in the new area we are able to find it. Its just when we plug it into the wall point we cannot access it.
Can someone help out as to why we cant see the printer when its connected to the data wall point.
Thanks
Andrew
