Network with a computer a few kilmetres away

Hi,
My friend and I want to network out PC's but we live a few kilometres away from each other...I it possible to network? How expensive is it?

There is software called "LogMeIn" however I don't think it fits your bill.

Basically, it allows another person to control your entire computer and vice versa assuming you know their password and they have LogMeIn installed and enabled.

Actually it is completely free. If you want the advanced features it costs money. Right now until Sat they have a $45.00 US for a years PRO service. i am thinking about getting...
 
logmein is free for a single computer ... its just remote desktop .. if you want more you need to pay.

Why dont you buy two vpn routers, get static IPs, and setup a ipsec vpn?

you can hook up two networks

You reckon the Ips could be dynamic but just left on all the time?

Or just frequently updated?
