Im having trouble setting up my network. i have a Intel Inbusiness 8 port switch,
i have two pcs and a mac connected to it. but only my first pc can connect to the internet. anyone know why?

Need a little more info:

How do you connect to the Internet?

Assuming XP on the PCs, what does ipconfig return?

How do your computers get their addresing? DHCP? From what source?

I have Verizon DSL

Ip config gives this

PC1 with working internet:

IP Address.........: 71.11.99.176
Subnet Mask......: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway.: 71.111.99.1

PC2 with nonworking internet:

IP Address........: 169.254.152.91
Subnet Mask.....: 255.255.0.0

Yes, they use DCHP and im not sure what you mean by what source..

btw, i can release the ip on the working computer, and renew the ip on the notworking computer, and then the nonworking computer will connect to the internet.

You're not trying to plug your cable modem directly into your switch are you? If so you will need to use a router - you cannot plug a cable modem into a hub as your ISP only gives you 1 IP address.

EDIT: I posted that reply without seeing your last message, but basically you will need to buy a router. Plug the modem into the router, and the router into the hub. Then you should be able to access the Internet on all your computers.
