Network problem with XP

I have ran the network wizard on my PC which is running XP Pro and my laptop which is running XP Home. I have a used the create a network setup disk and used that on the laptop and tried doing it on the laptop first.

But I can't see any of the shared folders on either my laptop or PC, but I can VNC both so I know there is a connection. Which is through a router and LAN cables.

I have networked the 2 before, but I recently reformatted the PC and now I can't network them :(

Can anyone help?

Ok have you add the tool on the xp disk its called set up a home neetwork you will need that and then you just set it up like normal or

whats you network called maybe one on mshome and the other on workgroup

Set the host computer's IP address to [192.168.0.1], then set any other computers on the network to [obtain IP address automatically] make sure the work groups are the same,
and you are sharing at least one file\folder on each computer

are you sure that they are being shared, right click on them and goto sharing.
You can tell if is being shared if there is a little hand on the folder icon

Just a tip don't know if it will help

If you are sharing a complete hard drive on a service pack 2 machine it is set up to hide the drive if you want to connect to it you can go to explorer. Then go to the top of the window and go to tools in the tools menu there should be something like map a network drve click it and type \\server\C$ or what ever drive you wanna map.

I dont have sp2 yet, I tried the IP thing but after trying that I lost my internet connection. And I tried the set up connection on the disk.

Thanx everyone
