Network found, but can't connect

Hey all,
I bought a Netgear USB network adapter for use with my windows 98se upstairs. The box says it is compatible with 98SE, so I don't think that is my problem... Anyways, it can find my SSID and I have a network connection of about 4-5 bars (over half). I cannot connect to the internet though.
Any ideas on what I should do?

Go to Start -> Run -> cmd and type ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of your router. This will establish whether you have a successful connection to the router itself. If the router replies successfully, make sure that you don't have a firewall blocking Internet access and that your browser is not set to 'work offline'.
