I have a router and it hosts my network. I have a laptop and a desktop computer. I Set up the network on both Pc's. I shared folders on both Pc's also. But the thing is i can access the laptop's folders on my desktop, but i cant access my desktop's folders from the laptop.

Help Anyone?

Hey

Go to control panel and run the network setup wizard on both computers and make sure that file and printer sharing is enabled on both of them and that they are on the same workgroup domain.

Let me know if that helps

Typically, if you just right click on the folder you wish to share, you should see Sharing and Security. From here you can select how you want to share the folder. The other person might need to log in. Under a normal setup, the administrator account is active but with no password(yeah, quite a security hole) If not, they could use whatever you typically sign in as, or you can make a new account for them.

I did everything, turn on file sharing, give all permissions for the folders and hardrives. But still my laptop Cant Access the folders and hardrives, it detects it but it cant acess

I had the same situation for a while. Make sure you can ping the laptop, and vice versa, make sure you have at leas a few folders shared, and if your running a firewall, this may be the issue.

You can try disabling the firewall first, than see if you can find your shared folders. If this works, you need to add your networks IP to the firewall (ex. 192.168.1.2)

I had this same problem. When I disabled ZoneAlarm, I could access files between computers. When I go into ZoneAlarm's control panel, the IP is already listed. Any advice on how to configure ZoneAlarm to allow file sharing between my desktop and laptop?
