Network Crashing

I have a hardwired network throughout my home connected to the internet via a broadband connection (through Comcast). I am having a constant problem of having to re-cycle the network (modem, router, switches, etc..) due to loosing an internet connection. It has gotten progressively worse as more computers have been added to the network, whereas I have to re-cycle sometimes multiple times during the day. When only 1 or 2 computers were connnected to the network, generally everything worked fine. Now with 4 or 5 computers, much more problems.

Any ideas as to how to diagnose the root cause of the problem?

It sounds like it might be your router. I'm only working this out logically:D . If it's steadily getting worse as you add each computer, then i can't think what else it could be. If you have a fast connection, then maybe your router isn't up to handling it, causing it to cut out every now and then.

If you really want to find the root of your problem, then next time it cuts out reset your network one piece at a time (router, modem...etc) and test the internet connection until you find out what's causing the problem.

When you called Comcast and they setup your connection, which PC were you on? With that machine login to the router, and click clone pc mac address. You should have no more troubles with this...
