So ya...as of today I have bought a new computer and so ya i bought a 4-port ethernet hub. I unconnected my eithernet cable from my old computer that was connected to my cable router. then i setted up my new computer then hooked up my cable router, and then my ethernet hub. the connection on my new computer worked just fine but my old computer's connection won't work. so i tried to fix it and didn't work. i tried looking on how to fix this problem but so far it's done nothing. so i just want to ask if any1 has a solutionto my problem. plz help me soon.

some addtional information i have is i have cable internet supported by rodgers and the router is by motoola. also my 4-port ethner hub is by dynex. also my old computer is a VIAO that i got in the year 2000. if there is any more info that you need then feel free to ask then. thx:o

So, you have a PC and a lappy or 2 pcs?

Why dont you just use the router to connect both pc and the internet?

I run a PC and a lappy and the pc is connected to the router via Ethernet cable, my lappy via wireless.

You need to find out if your computer is seeing the ethernet adapter first, find out the IP address and gateway and compare it with the router. Chances are they are not the same IP address and it's the reason why you are having so much problems with internet connectivity.

Program both the ethernet adapter in your computers(s) {plural for both of them} and then set up your router to see the internet and your computers. You might need to cal on someone if you don't understand how to do this.

But, in a nut shell... simple do a "Ipconfig /all" at the command prompt to determine what your IP's are to begin. I think you'll discover the error and go for fixing it.

Hope this helps.
