Network Cards??

I am building a pc thorugh monarchcommputer.com and oneof the options is to get a network card?

DO I need one and what are they for?
 
it is used for dsl ot cable internet... Or a home netowrk.. Yes if you want to use a home internet connection will wil need this. UNLESS you only plan on using dial up. Should cost like $15
 
ok well I am connected to DSL now through a wireless connection.... my dads pc has the modem and I have a network adapter that sits on top of my pc... is that the same thing /
 
In that case, you will need a wireless network adapter that adheres to the same wireless standard as your wireless router. What i mean is if you router emits an 802.11g wireless signal, you should buy a wireless networking card that is 802.11g.
 
i would still get a nic in your new machine in addition to any wifi stuff you need. a nic is a good thing to have, and you will be cursing at yourself if a time comes up when you need it, and you dont have it :D on top of that, it should not be that much money. . .
