What do you guys think of this router? http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.asp...4959957,4294959958,4294955937,50542&InMerch=1
I need the best wireless modem router there is for under £300, any other suggestions please say.
And also, could i plug my computer in to this router so i dont have to buy a usb adaptor? using an ethernet cable or something? I have 2 computers, one downstairs which will be next to the router, and one upstairs which will be wireless.

Thanks.

Thatws a good wireless router, but you would need to buy draft-n products from netgear if you want the high speed.

And is that modem compatible with your ISP?

I don't know, it's BT, but how would i find out?

You would have to contact your ISP and ask what modems there service is compatible with. If it's anything like my DSL company, you can only buy modems from a certain manufacturer, others won't work with the service.

Ok thanks, also, this router is draft 802.11n 270mps but i cant find a reciever for 270mps? only 108mps, is there a netgear one?

Honestly I would either wait until 802.11n is actually out before I make such as large purchase. But if you need it right away, I would look more towards the 802.11g "extreme", which are capable of transferring at 108Mb/s. Those cards are much easier to find for desktops/laptops then the draft-n ones are.

i have that router :P its great, but its PPPoE settings are a little buggy, but update the firmware and it should be fine...

802.11 N is not set to come out standardized until July 2007. All the stuff you see here is Pre N, and plan on having lots of stability issues. Also, the 108Mbps wifi routers are really more of a gimmick. Sure you may surpass the 54mb transfer rate but only with in a certain proximity of the AP will you get those speeds. Take into factor, distance, interference, drivers, software, network traffic, etc you will probably never get the full benefit of 108mbps.

I think I made a suggestion to you earlier about getting some linksys routers that support the open source linux firmware. Those 50 dollar routers are pretty much turned into $500 routers with that firmware update. You get so many extra options, they are stable, and they offer great security options.

Or

Wait till next summer when 802.11N becomes standard.
