Needs a router.

I need a router for my personal use at home, I simply have 2 computers with one cable modem which I would like to have both online at once. One is my wife's and one is mine. If there are other networking solutions feel free to let me know. I would prefer an inexpensive solution to an expensive one.

linksys WRT54GL is what I personally own and can tell you its a very good router for its cost. It also supports DDWRT firmware.

Do you only need wired, or would you prefer wireless capabilities?

I'd go with a basic Linksys. Either that WRT54GL posted or just a basic wired, depending on your needs.
