I normally have 1 network card. I can either connect to my other pc and use it as a lan or i can plug in my intenrnet and have cable internet. Well i got another network card (NIC) and wanted to put 2 of them in the main computer so i could stay on the internet and have a lan without having to manually change the cords. ( i dont care about getting internet on the other pc). When i have both cards connected, one of the cards always says it cant be used because "the network did not assign a network ID" and it says " some or all of the functions of this card are not working." I clicked repair connection but it did nothing. Any ideas on why or how to fix this. I can get the exact error message if its needed but i didnt feal like putting in the other NIC and getting the exact error message right now..

BY the way, what makes a router good since u brought it up? I want it to not lagg gameing and stil download as good( i hear they slow down the downloads and make ping worse) i want cheep also though, is that possible. I dont care about the security or firewall stuff.. just good ping/ downloading

if you use a router you will not have a slower connection i am presuming you have broadband connection for online gaming. a router could solve all your problems, you could also run you pcs wireless and you will still have a fast connection but if you have a lan to your pc through a router it will run at 100.0 mbits speed. it sounds more complicated than it realy is. £70.00 could solve all probs.
