OK guys here is the deal, my 10 year old neighbor Skylar just lost her mother to cancer last month, as if that was not bad enough her PC just fried. Some how something shorted out and cooked the Ram and the MOBO, I'm not sure what happened but the PC will no longer turn on and there is a nice big burn mark on the Ram and on the Mobo near the processor........not mention it smells like melting plastic. The PC was pretty much her muse for the rest of the day after school, because her father works 2 jobs to support them and her grand father who is 79 years old watchers her while her father is at work, so she has very little to do during the day. I feel bad because now she really has nothing except her thoughts :( and as anyone who has ever lost someone close to them knows, those thoughts are kind of disturbing at first. Every spare day I have I try and take her out and do stuff like go shopping (all of it is on me), go to Falcon games because she loves hockey or her myself and my brother will go to skating, to try get her out of the house and help her deal with this tragedy. My parents the other day went and did a food shopping for my family and hers because of the hard times they are having. The thing that bothers me though is my schedule is getting more and more packed so I'm not going to have to much spare time for the next few months and I just cant bare the thought of her sitting at home with nothing to really keep her mind off of her mother and all the worries.

So what I would like to do is build her a PC just so she has something to do and also to help her with her school work. She has free internet because her father works for the local cable company, so that is plus in helping her talk to people from her school. I already have a spare PSU, a 60 gig HD, and case what I need is the following with minimum requirements.

Processor and Mobo: PIII 800 or equivalent
RAM: 128 MB Plus
Video Video Card: 32 MB

She plays Hockey games, Myst,The Elder Scrolls III,Prince of Persia Trilogy,Final Fantasy XI and a few others I think. Those minimum requirements on the boxes, so anything above that would good..........I think. So if anyone has anything that they want to sell CHEAP shoot me a PM, because I'm paying for this out of my pocket and I really dont want to spend a crazy amount on this. I wish I could give her one my PC's but all of mine are being used for mine and my parents business.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated :D

I strongly suggest you take a look at CyberExchange on Riverdale St. in West Springfield, right across from B'Shara's restaurant. They got some decent used, pre-tested entire systems there, not too expensive, and with a 90-day warranty, no less. That's where I got my first system, and I still go there every so often for software and used parts. Check 'em out... you won't spend a crazy amount there at all.

Are they still there? I used to work right down the road to them in West Springfield Plaza. I thought they closed up?

I checked PC Wherehouse but they are crazy expensive for everything there. So I take it you are from this area?

hey, I feel for ya, my mom died from cancer last year (february 7th, 06) and it is very hard for me to deal with it at 16, so it definitely sucks to be in this kid's situation, but I know how it feels, and let me tell you, it is one of the worst feelings you could ever have

oh yeah sup2jzgte- check your pm's, I might have some help for ya :D
