Need microphone suggestions

Hi, the microphone in my laptop doesn't record my voice at the same pitch as I speak, I assume it is because it is low quality. I need suggestions on a microphone I can use on ventrilo that works through usb (as I have external speakers) and will play my voice at the same pitch I am speaking.

Thanks, Travis

edit: I don't want something super expensive, try to keep it under $50 or $60.

The first thing to suggest is Logitech, while definitely not the best brand out there, they do tend to be well known. The microphone I have is a Plantronics microphone, I got mine for $23 AUD (it's an American company so it probably ships world wide). It's excellent, it does the job and it never broke. This is the second time I've bought one, the first one I had broke but it's entirely my fault; I wrenched it out of the socket with such force it would make Jesus cry.

All in all, excellent microphone, does the job well enough. I have no arguments with it, no installation cd, just plug-and-go. My first one lasted two years before I killed it, would probably have lasted a while longer (all it needs is a new stereo plug soldered onto it).

Hope that helps :)

Thanks robot and cohen, I am looking forward to getting one.

Good luck and let us know :)

I found that the Plantronics one I have (same as link) works well enough for school media projects (i.e. recording sound for machinmas and other basic movies) but is definitely not a professional device if you plan to use it for proper voice acting on a buisiness level (That would be $80+ hardware with proper recording room, but I think you're just looking for a basic internet microphone that has clear sound to use on msn, right? :P If so then what I suggested works great for me).

Oh and whatever you do, out of personal (and that of several friends') experience, don't get a microphone attached to a headset because they love to snap off. Not that I don't love an excuse to get the soldering pen out...
