Need ideas how to make a few bucks after my nine to five job.

Okay, so I have a job that after the trip, break, and work I end up going in walking up at 8:30am and coming home at 7:30pm M-F. Sometimes I come in two hours earlier and because of that leave earlier, and there are some weeks where I have to work Saturdays. So my job is somewhat stable but there are some variances that happen on my schedule. The only other thing I feel I should mention about my day to day life is that I live in New York City and don't have a car.

Anyway, I need some ideas as to how I can make a few bucks on the side after work with computers given my life style. I have a general foundation of knowledge in computers when it comes to both hardware, networking, and programming. I have repaired computers, troubleshooted home networks, built basic programs, and designed HTML pages, but I'm not an expert at any of these activities.

I am willing to do a bit of studying, but whatever is the quickest to learn and most low-skill would be preferable. And I don't want to give up my current job.

Any ideas?

Just repair people's computers, set up networks, etc.
You can make an extra $100 a day doing this.
Mostly in cash.

he's not kidding, i worked on somebodies computer(reformat and install drivers) i was expecting 20 bucks, i got 50

Yeah when it comes to PC repair people are retarded. Before I moved down here my grandparents paid "lame squad" from Best Buy $200 to repair a PC....which would have taken me 10 minutes and $20 to do myself.

go into repair its quick easy and you can make alot of money I do just some small stuff such as simple repairs to setting up networks and its great

Just get a second job...

If you are going to be an independent contractor and work on people's computers I would do it legit. I used to this myself. Got a 1099 for taxes, was sub contracted through an insured LLC company, and I had contracts of the work I did.

You screw up and lose someone's data that's a law suit. If you have it set up right to protect yourself they can't come after you.

Trust me, I had some very high maintenance clients when I did that stuff. People that freaked out if the easy button didn't work or if something they did after I fixed their problems broke what I fixed.

All my clients signed a contract before I ever touched their computer. My rate started at $100 an hour too, and went up depending on the job.

Get into web design. Get Dreamweaver, this will make designing much easier. Start with a template, then alter it majorly. Easy to do with simple html skills. Get $50-$100 a site. Or learn flash and get up to $500 a site, plus maintenance fees

I would recommend building or using CMS at that point. That way it is easy for you to maintain your clients sites and once you have the CMS in place you just add CSS and design, and dump it into a MySQL database and you are done.

I have several web developer friends that do it for a living.

You could sign up to be a ChaCha guide. You make 10c-25c for each question you answer. Not much, but you might be able to make minimum wage that way, and you're not doing much.

Also check out fusioncash.net or similar sites. You take "surveys", which are usually just signing up for "free" trials, but you can make money this way. Just be careful, and do not use an account that has alot of money on it. A few years ago I did this and made $35 over probably five hours doing only free offers. You could make alot doing paid offers, but it's also more risky.

Hey, thanks for that! I just made $7.50 in 5 minutes! :P

you haven't cashed out though, have you? i remember it was super easy at first, but they get you because the longer you do it, the fewer "good" offers there are, so it gets difficult to hit the required $25.

Nope, and I probably never will, lol.

you could build computers and then sell them?

Not a good idea imho. It's very time consuming and not very rewarding.

You can make some very good money doing fairly basic computer repair and maintenance tasks for people though and it doesn't take a ton of time either.
