Need Help !!!!

Hey, ive recently bought an Audigy platinum EX soundcard and after installing i plugged my 2.1 hercules into the analog/digital port and there was no sound.
The only sound i had before was onboard. It is a new computer with XP.
Can anyone help me get the sound working.

Any help appreciated thanx.
 
have you disabled your onbroard sound, and have you installed the drivers for your new sound card.
 
I dont know how to disable onboard souns and i have used the install disk that came with the card for the drivers.
 
easy thing to try quickly goto control panel, open sound and audio, goto audio tab. Look at the 3 drop down boxs and see if you can change it to the new sound card
 
you should be able to disable onboard sound from bios, pressing f2 or del or something similar on boot up. the look around untill you see an option to disable on board sound.

Can you check in device manager (in system from control panel) and check that the new sound device was installed correctly.
 
are you sure you have had a good look around, things are not easy to find you may need to navigate through the menu systems quite a lot.
I am running out of things to recomend other than reinstalling the driver again, maybe testing the card out on another machine,

Any one else got any suggestions?
 
You dont have top disable the onboard sound, but you coudl if you wanted to. When i upgraded to a audigy 2 zs, i had many problems trying to get the sound to work. Finally after going through many drivers, i went to the website and got the updated drivers, so go to www.soundblaster.com and the the drivers for your card.
