need help with wireless net access

right i have a laptop im always connected right no problem to help a friend i said he could share my net access my lap is also wireless as well so i set up the network he brought a wireless lan pc card for his computer as he cant get the internet in his flat we are ooh no more than 4 metres if that between our conputers yet his comp does not register my network my friend across the street can pick up my network and yes i know about wep wpa etc just strange it wont pick it up his card is the addon gwp110 any clues anybody
 
Are they both the same types of radios (802.11b, 802.11a, etc)? Perhaps your SSID is not broadcasted...
 
got part of a solution

right got it to finally recognise my network but when he presses internet explorer even thou it says he is connected he gets zip????
