so a couple days ago I ran into problems w/ running programs that i downloaded.... well my pc has been infected w/ some serious stuff, so i decided to just reformat the whole thing (everything has been backed up)... so i TRIED reformatting w/ the cd that emachines sent me... but when i get to step 2 I get 'error code 0x8007045D'

Not sure if this is causing it but when i 1st got my pc, a friend partitioned part of it for linux so I could learn linux etc.. but now my pc needs to be reformatted, would that linux partitioned part stop me from reformatting? Is anyone familiar with "error code Ox8007045D"?

you could have a corrupt cd. error messages will often happen when someone burns an iso image to a disk too fast. i am assuming you don't have any way to burn another image?

read this off a forum and this person said he found the answer,

for u who encounter this problem during the installation. Here is an answer. Somehow i think its nothing to do with the iso image or bios bugs,,,, its more like the build in buggy driver in vista. What i did was download the sata controller driver and put it in a removeable media. During the installation, manual install the HD driver, the the installation go smooth...wow... cheer to vista for its retail still like bata..............>.<

still cant believe i spend so much $$$$ to buy this so far the worst OS on the earth...

MS = moneysoft.... = make money 1st and pacth later.....

sorry about my language...... i have sent over 7 sleepless night try to get this problem fixed...

;)
