This has been very frustrating 
I'm not very schooled in computer audio. I wanted to run stored music from my computer via a cable to my audio system. I bought the cable and it worked fine, but I had to unplug the computer speakers which I still want. So I was told a Y cable with male plug on one and and two female plugs would do it, both would play. It doesn't work. One side is dominant and the only one that carries a signal (so it seems).
Now I've been told I should either get a second sound card or an A/B switch for on the desktop. Either is fine with me, the switch sounds easier and cheaper if I could find one but I can't.
