My X-Fi Fatality

Are there any real notable upgrades I can make from this card? I am looking for pure sound quality. I have Logitech Z5500s and I wasn't sure if there are any real improvements I can make on my sound card for just sound. Not any kind of crazy features for recording or anything.

X-Fi Fatality Sound Card pumping sound to a set of Logitech Z5500 Speakers...about as good as you get really.

I'd buy more RAM and a better PSU before I would touch the sound set up if I had your system. For the money you will have to blow to get better sound than you already have...I think I would maybe buy an i7 set up.

No. Sound quality is not a characteristic of sound cards. To improve sound quality upgrade speakers.

There is no sound card that you could buy that would upgrade your sound. Like fmw said, you now would have to upgrade you speaker system to get better sound. BTW sound quality is not affected just by speakers but by source and amplifiers as well, Speakers can only be as good as their source. The Z5500 has an integrated amplifier system for all the speakers and although it is a good speaker set for computers it is not good for quality audio listening. If you really want an upgrade you would have to go a home theater system. You could buy a Receiver with integrated amplifier or get a Preamp and have separate amplifiers for each channel or paired channels (stereo). If you are interested I could put a list together for you. This would be the only way to upgrade you sound. Hope that helps.

Why upgrade my ram and psu? I have enough power to drive my system.

Why would I need to upgrade my ram? 2gb of ram running at PC1600. What really needs more ram?
