I'm moving into an apartment
next to my high school. My high school is lame and over filters their internet.
I thought it would be great to use my existing wireless internet and increase
it's range to broadcast my network throughout the school. It is a larger campus
and I don't expect to reach the whole thing, but the more I can get, the better.
I have a Linksys Wireless G broadband router, and it's current broadcast range
from inside the house is 300ft. That is with stock antennas that are Omni
Directional. I have a couple ideas, but don't know what to settle on. My best
idea is to get two signal boosters and connect them to where to antennas were,
signal in and signal out. The booster is

here. My other idea was to plant a repeater or wireless access point that
has repeater mode somewhere and use that.

going to get. I don't feel conferrable placing a repeater in the school, but
would if I have too. Although I know someone with a house between me and the
school...
The terrain between the
apartment and school is uphill a little, mostly clear, with some trees. I have

pictures here. I haven't measured it out but I know it's about 700-800ft to
the first part of the school. I live in Washington so it does rain on occasion,
although it will soon be spring and summer.
What would be my best bet, I'm
open to new ideas, I want the network to have file sharing and printer sharing,
and it will have an encrypted key of 128 bit. Is it possible? Will my router
work with two boosters, or is that outrageous? I am tech literate with some
networking experience, with RJ-45 and wireless, although only with my router. I
have a laptop that I will use to access the network with.
Thanx, -Seth
