My Speakers are dying...

Well, my Logitech LS21 system is dying. If any of you are familiar with this set, you'll know that it has a volume control, power switch and headphone jack in that little box thing. Anyway, the first problem was that once you unplug the headphones from it, only the left speaker would work.

The solution was leaving it off for a while or whacking the subwoofer/amp. Eventually i took apart the box thing and cut the wires, and reconnected them (soldered) which fixed it for a while.

Now, i had to cut the connections and solder tham AGAIN because i got no sound from them. This set has been really problematic. Now I have to keep the volume control thing like this:

instead of in here:

otherwise it won't work at all or the volume is extremely low and coming from only the left speaker, because the cables are being squished.

Basically, I need a new 2.1 system and i have $30 AUD to spend.

Recommendations?

Well... MSY has the Logitech R20 2.0 for $25, that might be worth considering. Are the speakers still under warranty? You could put it all back together and cross your fingers that they replace it for you.

Why do you doubt it? They're 4 months old, and the Warranty should last for 1 year minimum. I recently RMA'ed an 18month old laptop, just by giving them the serial key at the bottom of the laptop.

Yeah... I'm not going to worry about it now, my bro ahs the same set with the same problem (only left spekaer works after unplugging headphones)

I do have an X-530 set, but it's in storage... over 4000km away... in perth.

Well try the ones in my sig....I find them to be very awesome and they were like $20 US at newegg. I dunno how badly you Aussies get ripped off though.
Not the most braggable but I must say they out perform just about every pair of basic speakers I have ever seen and my folks have spent 40-50 for speakers that don't come close.

Hmmm just found out my dad has a pair of Altec Lansings somewhere, might try and find them. this would be easy if he wasn't such an audiophile and didn't have mountains of amps and recievers and cd players throughout the house :P
