my microfone doesn't work

my microfone doesn't work, please help me. i have windows xp. i have bought 2 new headsets because i think, the first one have an error, but the number 2 still not work. so i think i have something wrong with my computer. im using windows xp, and my sound system is C-media Wave device. my headsets is cheap, but my friends have it, and they have no problems with it.


please help me, and "the person" who tells me the answar of the problem gets admin in my steam clan: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/newcss

and i will help "the person", and tell hin what i know about thepiratebay and other things "the person" needs to know.

i will be so happy if you can help me.

I don't want any of the stuff, especially not as it is to do with torrenting, you might want to head over and read the forum rules after reading my post ;)


"red and green stick" I assume you mean 3.5mm jack, like this:

if so, plug them in, go to control panel and go to sounds. Click the recording tab, find your microphone and make it the default device. If you don't know which is your mic, make some noise and look at the levels change. Once you have done that, you can test it. Either try recording some audio, or use something like TeamSpeak and the microphone test to see what everyone else that listens to you through your mic can hear

I don't have an XP computer any more, all 4 are running either vista or 7 so can't make a video for you

when you set the microphone up:

do you plug the microphone in and that is it?

do you plug it into a sound card, or the motherboard sound? If you are unsure, if the sound ports are all clumped together, it is most probably motherboard, if they are in a single line, most probably sound card.

What are you trying to use the microphone in, and with what do you use to test that "it isn't working"?

What computer are you running?
 
its a windows xp and i use steam to test, and the "sound recorder", all windows computers have. and the only thing i do is plug it in, and test it. and i think it is the motherboard, i plug it in.

When you go to control panel and go to sound, then recording tab, when you make a noise do any of the levels change?
 
no its dont say anything. but my big brother have a windows vista computer. but it dont work right now. but when it work i will test about the microfone work with windows vista. and if it dont, will you please make a video with "how to do it" on windows vista???

Hi dear well check ur Windows bits. then reinstall ur Sound driver . if u still have same problem so Install the same bit version of sound card.

i mean If the windows is 32 bit and ur sound card driver work on 64 bit so it's not supported on ur windows.
so u need to trace Windows Bit and Sound Driver Bit.
