My laptop lose its audio

I have window xp and today when i try to open it , no audio can be heard .
I have realtek ac97 .
I am sure that i didnt click the " mute all " icon . I also follow the troubleshoot there and check all those devide manager thing yet still no sound can be heard . (I can play wmp just that without sound ) .

I also try to un/re install my realtek ac97 , all of them doesnt work . Please help .
 
is the speaker icon still in the system tray??? (near the clock)
(you didnt press mute on the keyboard did you?)

yes it is still there (and i didnt press the mute on the keyboard)

also.. the hardware isnt disabled in the devica manager?

if that is there then for the most part if means you audio driver is fine. You next check all the levels, double click it, press options and properties. Select to show ALL of the volume controls and ensure they are all turned up
then check the volume settings on the application you are using to play back, eg media player

have you tried using headphones/external speakers in the phone jack? maybe the internals have blown

i try to use my headset and yes , i CAN hear audio . But why when i plug out my headset from laptop , no sound can be heard ?
