My Dad caught a virus (comp)

First I am an old F@#K. My dad is obviously older.
He clicked on a picture at a boat building site and ZAP.
Even with AV running it was too late.
After many virus scans til it had rooted them out then came malwarebytes etc.
It found root kits up the wazoo.
I find it interesting that a pic can cause so much damage.
I first heard of this around 12 years ago but never knew anyone who had experienced it.

Yeah, and try Microsoft Security Essentials. I know it sounds bad, but I have been testing it at work. It's good so far.

Yeah, it is somewhat slower, but that's a lot of services starting on most distros. Debian(Ubuntu), CentOS, SlackWare, etc. are notorious for slow boots.

Drivers are a definite problem.
