my current dilema...

So it seems that my speakers wont work when plugging in headphones but will work playing music and stuff.

At the moment i have an extension cable coming from my computer to behind the monitor (kind of like some computer cafe's do so you dont have to reach down and plug in youre headphones.) At night i can plug my headphones into it and thats awesome, but i have to unplug the cable from the computer and plug in the speakers again.

What im looking for is some sort of y/x jack that has a switch that i can plug the speakers and the headphone extension cable into at the same time and can switch from speakers to headphones, because i use the speakers during the day and the headphones at night i have to reach down and switch from one to the other, yet id like to be able to have them hooked up at the same time and have some sort of switch...

is it possible or have i confused you

Yes, it is possible.

Most electronics stores carry audio switches, though the ones I am familiar with have RCA jack inputs/outputs.

That can be worked around, though.

thanks alot, though id like to know which rca connector would work, as its not the tv type but the heaphone cable type im not sure what the heck its called but its the headphone plugin....
