My computer just locked itself....

This morning it was fine. No password. Its been like that for a week. I took it off. I shut it down, using the switch in the back because it screwed up while hibernating, because I didn't disconnect the modem (which is necessary to hibernate). I wanted to get back on, and now I need a password. I have tried several different things such as my old password, passwords I thought I had used (I thought I put one on but didn't so I left it...this was a week ago). Whats the next step, other than re-installing the OS?

I once read that you can boot up in safe mode and hit a button on the keyboard to create a passwordless admin acount. Anyone know how?

Windows is most likely corrupted now.. However, boot to safe mode, login on the administrator account, go into control panel, user accounts and delete the password for your account.

thats also a reason to have several backdoors. i have two more profiles admin accounts available.
Not unusual for one to get corrupt. it does happen.

you need to pick a password that is easy to remember yet hard for others to come up with.

For example, if you have a stash of CDs or DVDs in plain view or books. Make a password from one of those. If you have Microsoft Office 14 CD from the top for example, password could be office14. You get the idea.

The only admin acount that I have is the one I use...unless there is an extra one there automactically?? And how would I find it?

When you boot to safe mode what accounts are listed that you can log into? You should have a default administrator account that is only visible in safe mode(unless you made it visible and are using it, which is a bad idea) and your own account.

Well, there is no list....I believe that I am using the only admin account. looks like I won't be able to use m computer until my new hard drive is in, because I have to much info on those hard drive that i need.
