Modem/Router Speeds

I have a cable modem and did a bandwith test over the internet... It said my speed was 4.1 megabits per second, (which I asume must be pretty good considering what I pay monthly). When you get a router it says things like 54mbps or 108 mbps, does that mean for me it doesn't matter which one I get because my connection is slower than both of them?

its 54mbps max, the farther away form the router you are the slower the speed and more drop outs. If there similar in price, go with the 108mbps.
