any one know a cheap and easy way to convert mod files so that i can use them on windows movie maker and then upload to youtube i keep finding these sample converters but they leave a water mark on your video any help apretiated

The .MOD format is simply a MPEG2 formatted video file, and if you simply wish to view the files on your computer, it is reportedly safe to rename the extension from .mod to .mpg or .avi

After renaming you can use Handbrake to convert. Handbrake is free and works really well and quick. Hope this helps.

If renaming it doesn't work, you can just as easily rename it back to .MOD

O yeah, thanx for the assist bkribbs. I should mention incase you don't know. Windows hides most extentions by default. If you go to WINDOWS explorer (not internet explorer) my computer, etc. Go to the tools menu-> Folder Options...

Go to the View Tab and scroll down to where it says "Hide extentions of known file types" and make sure that's unselected.

After changing the videos, you may want to reset this setting so you don't inadvertantly change other files extentions and make them unusable.

[I'm not trying to insult you're inteligence if you already knew this, but you're coming for help and I want to ensure I give you everything you need.
