mini dv firewire cable question

Hi!

I have a Canon ZR 500.

I want to know, what could I do with the firewire port on this camera?
(can i put my footage in my computer?)

But the problem is that I dont have any FireWire port and I can't just buy a card because I'm always on the road.

What I want is : something like a FIREWIRE to USB adapter. or a minidv cable USB instead of firewire...

First off, yes, the firewire port allows you to load footage onto your computer. However, there's no such thing as a firewire to USB adapter. I've searched on google and came up with some hubs that use both or something, you can look furtherly into that, but I doubt it'd come through performance wise. Last of all, there's no such thing as a minidv cable USB, so sorry .

Trying to go from firewire to USB...that's just cruel Get yourself a firewire card, they aren't too expensive.
